What is Parallax Web Design?

Parallax web design has become an extremely popular trend in terms of style, layout and functionality.

By Merriam-Webster’s definition, “parallax” means “the apparent displacement or the difference in apparent direction of an object, as seen from two different points not on a straight line with the object”.

Similarly, parallax web design uses dynamic layering and scrolling techniques to create a more 3D, motion-simulated and interactive effect. Often times, parallax websites feature animations to tell your story. When done correctly, your visual storytelling directs visitors toward clear calls to action.

Unfortunately, due to a lot of necessary coding and lack of silo, parallax websites tend to be a poor choice when prioritizing SEO. Also, they are not always compatible with responsive and mobile design. However, regardless of these limitations, they can be extremely beneficial and effective as campaign landing pages when complemented by successful and existing SEO efforts.
